Prof. Behar-Villegas in interview with China Daily
In an interview with China Daily, Prof. Dr. Erick Behar-Villegas, Dean of the Faculty of Business Administration at Berlin International, explained the impact of inflation on Latin America's recovery after two years of economic difficulties due to lockdowns.
Prof. Dr. Erick Behar-Villegas pointed out that in countries like Argentina, where the central bank raised interest rates without allowing commercial banks to raise their rates, credit allocation programs were at risk.
Rapidly rising prices pose new challenges for Latin American countries trying to overcome the pandemic and get their economies back on track. In addition, rising inflation will have a negative impact on domestic demand in all these countries.
Most countries in the region have been hit hard by rising prices, a phenomenon also seen in much of the world, due to overstretched supply chains, pent-up demand from years of supply freezes and, more recently, the conflict in Ukraine and sanctions on Russia.
