
Lecturer Giorgia Aquilar wins DAAD funding
Giorgia Aquilar who teaches theory of architecture at Berlin International won a grant from the German government to participate in the conference "Curriculum for Climate Agency: Design (in)Action held by the Association of Collegiate Schools of Architecture (ACSA). This year the conference is organized in collaboration with the European Association for Architectural Education (EAAE) and will be hosted by the Pratt Institute in New York together with the Oslo School of Architecture and Design.
On 24th June Giorgia will speak about "Unbuilding. Prolegomena to a Spatial Environmental Architectonics in Perpetual Becoming" in a session dedicated to the theory of environmental history and materialisms. The German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) approved her application for project funding at the beginning of June. Funding instructors to participate in international conferences is part of a DAAD initiative called “HAW.International” that promotes the internationalization of universities of applied sciences.
About Giorgia Aquilar
Giorgia Aquilar, lecturer at Berlin International University of Applied Sciences - is an architect and postdoctoral researcher at the Technical University of Munich. She currently holds a fellowship awarded by the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation. Her research stands at the intersection of architectural theory, urban design and historic preservation, with a special focus on evolutionary taxonomies and strategies for heritage futures. She has published a number of articles and essays on related themes. She has been the recipient of grants and fellowships for her scholarly work, including from the Harvard Research Center Dumbarton Oaks, the Stuckeman School of Architecture and Landscape Architecture at The Pennsylvania State University.
