Welcoming IES Abroad Interns to Berlin International
Berlin International is once again collaborating with IES Abroad Berlin, welcoming eight student interns from the U.S. for the current summer cycle. Their stay marks another chapter in our shared commitment to offering hands-on learning opportunities in a real-world academic setting.
Four of the interns have joined various administrative departments at BI, working closely with staff to better understand how the university functions behind the scenes. From admissions to marketing, they are involved in everyday processes that keep our institution running.
The other half of the group is supporting research projects led by Prof. Dr. Barış Ülker, BI’s Vice President for Research. These interns contribute to ongoing academic work and are introduced to the structure and expectations of university-led research in Germany.
For all participants, this internship is not only a professional experience but also an important step in developing intercultural competence and gaining international work skills. As we’ve shared in our previous article on the 5 benefits of doing an internship while studying in Germany, internships like these provide valuable insights into the host country's workplace culture, offer a chance to strengthen language skills, and enhance long-term career prospects.
By bringing international students into our day-to-day work and research, BI continues to serve as a platform where academic knowledge meets practice—right at the intersection of education, culture, and collaboration.
