About the talk
The BI Interior Architecture Talk '‘'Covering’ the Windows: When Architects commit Interior Design" considers the contentious relationship between interior design and architecture. It will demonstrate the professional embarrassment suffered by interior designers, especially as it is exposed in debates about the title of the discipline. It will provide some examples of Erving Goffman’s ‘passing’ and ‘covering’ in the professional conduct of interior designers and debunk some popular myths, such as ‘interior design is just a little bit of architecture,’ ‘we don’t do curtains,’ and ‘architects can automatically design interiors’.
