Tiergarten – Berlin’s Green Heart
Berlin’s largest and most beloved park, Tiergarten, is the perfect escape when you need a break from your studies.
The Brandenburg Gate, an iconic 18th-century monument, once marked the division between East and West Berlin and today stands as a symbol of unity and peace, making it the ultimate Berlin photo spot.
After a stroll through Tiergarten, head to Café am Neuen See to relax by the lake, where you can even rent a rowboat during summer.
For breathtaking city views, climb the 285 steps of the Victory Column (Siegessäule), a historic monument that was relocated from its original position in front of the Reichstag in 1938.
East Side Gallery
Once a symbol of division, today the East Side Gallery is a vibrant open-air museum. Spanning 1.3 km, it’s the longest remaining stretch of the Berlin Wall. Over 100 artists from around the world have turned it into a canvas of hope, resistance, and unity.
Don’t miss: The famous “Fraternal Kiss” mural by Dmitri Vrubel and the colorful abstract heads by Thierry Noir.
Fernsehturm (TV Tower) & Alexanderplatz
At 368 meters, the Fernsehturm is Berlin’s tallest structure and one of its most beloved landmarks. Head to the revolving observation deck for 360° views stretching up to 42 km on a clear day.
Right nearby, Alexanderplatz offers endless shopping, street performances, and the famous World Clock showing time in 148 cities.
Museum Island & Berlin Cathedral
A UNESCO World Heritage Site in the heart of Berlin, Museum Island hosts five world-class museums, including the Pergamon Museum and Neues Museum. Next door, the majestic Berlin Cathedral invites visitors to climb to its dome for breathtaking city views. The area is also perfect for a riverside stroll along the Spree.
Student tip: Many museums offer free or discounted entry on certain days, check before you go!
Charlottenburg Palace
Built at the end of the 17th century, Charlottenburg Palace is Berlin’s largest royal residence. Inside, you’ll find opulent baroque and rococo interiors, while the palace gardens are perfect for a relaxing walk or picnic. In winter, the palace hosts one of Berlin’s most charming Christmas markets.
Checkpoint Charlie
Once the most famous crossing point between East and West Berlin during the Cold War, Checkpoint Charlie is now a powerful reminder of the city’s divided past. Today, visitors can see a replica of the guardhouse, take photos with actors dressed as border guards, and explore the nearby Mauermuseum , Museum Haus am Checkpoint Charlie, which tells gripping stories of daring escape attempts, political tensions, and life behind the Wall.
The area is also surrounded by cafés and souvenir shops, making it a lively stop on your Berlin exploration.

Study Master of Business Administration (MBA) at BI
The learning environment fostered at Berlin International is student-centered and hands-on. All Bachelor and Master programs at Berlin International are taught in English. We view every class as a unique experience, including valuable interactions with external organizations (e.g., corporations, startups) through company visits, simulations, and city discoveries within the dynamic flair of Berlin. The MBA is built around a balanced mix of course formats, including projects, classical lectures, seminars, workshops, computer lab sessions, and colloquia, albeit through innovative teaching techniques that foster the development of core competencies.
At Berlin International, all lectures are fully taught in English. Teaching the MBA courses in English helps prepare our students for the global market and supports their role in an international business setting.
