Prof. Javier Martín
Vice President for International Affairs and Dean, Faculty of Architecture and Design
Javier Martín was born in Valencia, Spain. He studied architecture at the Universitat Politècnica de València, graduating in 2009, and later earned a Master in Design Studies from Harvard University's Graduate School of Design in 2014. During his time at Harvard, he was also involved in teaching and research, including work at the Wyss Institute for Biologically Inspired Materials.
After working with architect Zvi Hecker in Berlin, Prof. Martín established his own professional practice, both independently and in collaboration with various practitioners. His work has received international recognition, been widely published, and exhibited in prestigious venues such as the Museum of Modern Art in New York City.
As an educator and academic, Prof. Martín has taught at universities in Spain, the United States, and Chile. His research focuses on materiality and human perception.
His taught courses include construction and materials seminars, and design studios. In the past, he served as both Head of the BA Interior Architecture/Interior Design program and as Head of the MA Interior Architecture/Interior program. He has been Dean of the Faculty of Architecture and Design since 2021.
