Honorary President receives Helen Dinerman Award
Berlin International University of Applied Sciences is proud to announce that our esteemed Honorary President, Prof. Dr. Dr. hc mult. Hans-Dieter Klingemann, has been awarded the prestigious Helen Dinerman Award 2023 for his outstanding contributions to survey research methodology. In this article, we would like to highlight Prof. Klingemann's remarkable career and groundbreaking contributions to survey research, as well as his inspiring speech during the award ceremony.
A passion for survey research
With an impressive academic career that has taken Prof. Klingemann to prestigious institutions worldwide, including the Berlin International University of Applied Sciences, he has continuously contributed to the advancement of survey research methodology. His passion for the field began early in his career and drove him to undertake numerous innovative research projects.
Among his many achievements, Prof. Klingemann was the founder and director of the Paul Lazarsfeld Society in Germany. He was also one of the founders of academic survey research in post-communist Europe and post-Soviet Eurasia. In doing so, he trained researchers and established survey companies and academic survey research institutes in Hungary, the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Poland, and the Baltic and Balkan countries. In addition, Dr. Klingemann made important leadership contributions to several international comparative social science research projects, including several waves of the World Values Survey and the Comparative Study of Electoral Systems.
