From Australia to Berlin: Evelyn Lietz on Finding Her Path at BI
Evelyn Lietz, an International Business Management and Marketing student from Australia, came to Berlin International with an open mind—and left with a clear vision for her future.
Drawn to BI’s international community and flexible admissions process, Evelyn saw the university as the ideal place to start a new chapter abroad. “BI offered the course I was looking for in English and made it easy to integrate into a new country,” she explains. The unique structure of her program was also a deciding factor. “I loved the flexibility to explore different pathways during the first year before choosing a specialization, while still earning all required credits.”
Evelyn’s time at BI helped shape her future career direction. With graduation on the horizon this October, she plans to pursue a career in global health and pharmaceutical management. “When I started, I had no idea what I wanted to be. BI gave me the space and support to discover what fields I’m passionate about, both in theory and practice.”
Beyond academics, Evelyn found a second home in Berlin’s vibrant international student life. “The people were definitely the best part. Everyone’s in the same situation—new to the city and eager to connect. I met my best friend during orientation, and we’ve made unforgettable memories traveling together.”
She also credits the faculty with making a lasting impact. “The professors in the business faculty are incredibly passionate and supportive. Their level of care for individual students is something you rarely find at larger universities.”
Evelyn’s BI experience has been filled with meaningful moments—from student council and internships to legendary Berlin weekends and festive campus celebrations. When asked to sum it up in three words, she doesn’t hesitate: Personal. Community. Global.
