Dr. Sally Stone at BI
In the Spring Semester 2025, Berlin International had the pleasure of welcoming Sally Stone, PhD, to the Faculty of Architecture and Design. Thanks to the funding of the DAAD, Sally joined us as a full-time Teaching and Research Associate for the duration of the semester.
Sally is Professor of Adaptive Reuse and Innovative Pedagogies at the Manchester School of Architecture. She holds a BA and MA from Manchester Polytechnic (now Manchester Metropolitan University) and earned her PhD at the University of Westminster. An international authority on architectural heritage—specifically adaptive reuse—her work has helped shape this emergent field into a distinct area of disciplinary expertise.
During her time at BI, Sally brought her research methodology into the classroom, offering our students valuable insight into the analysis, development, and design of architecture through the lens of reuse. Her contributions supported and enriched the academic experience across both teaching and research.

We were honored to have her with us and thank her for an engaging and insightful semester.
