Bi Talk - Daryan Knoblauch
Suspending presence
Whitecliffe University of Applied Sciences (Berlin Campus) welcomes Daryan Knoblauch for a lecture exploring the evolving role of architecture within contemporary cultural production.
- Date: 14.04.2026
- Time: 17:00
- Place: Studio 1
About the Speaker
Founded in 2023, Daryan Knoblauch leads an experimental and cross-disciplinary architecture studio based in Berlin. The practice operates at the intersection of architecture, performance, and visual culture, developing projects that range from cultural institutions and ephemeral pavilions to spatial devices for artistic expression.
The studio’s work has been commissioned by internationally recognized institutions, including the Mies van der Rohe Foundation (Barcelona), Neue Nationalgalerie (Berlin), Exit (Atlanta), and ArkDes (Stockholm).
About the Lecture
“Suspending Presence” explores how architecture can move beyond conventional boundaries and engage with the infrastructures of contemporary culture.
The lecture presents the studio’s approach to working across performance, fashion, and technology, framing architecture as a tool to reflect on and investigate the present.
Central to this approach is the concept of functional misuse—a strategy that reconfigures readymade elements, temporary systems, and structural forms to develop a distinct architectural language of brutalized display.
Attendance
The lecture is open to students, faculty, and external guests.
