Despoina Glarou’s studies follow an interdisciplinary and international approach with a focus on law and business management. She earned her LL.M. from the Freie Universität Berlin and her MBA from the University of Liverpool. She received her Ph.D. in Law from the Freie Universität Berlin with research fellowships at the New York University, the National University of Singapore, and the University of Pune, India. She was also a postdoctoral researcher at the FernUniversität Hagen.
Despoina Glarou is an internationally established expert in international law, international management, and human rights, with long-standing experience as an educator, manager, and lawyer. For the last fifteen years, she worked as managing director and project manager for leading actors of both the private and the public sectors. As a Senior Lecturer with domain of expertise in International Law, Human Rights Law, the EU and UN Systems, Diversity, Human Resources Management, Organizational Behavior, and Business Ethics she has taught at universities such as the Freie Universität Berlin, the University of Vienna, the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki and the University of Pune. She also worked for CTED’s legal and human rights department at the UN Security Council in New York and as a trainer for the international diplomat's program for the German Federal Foreign Office. She is the author, editor, and publisher of several books, articles, academic and training manuals, background guides, and other educational tools.
