Relieva is a virtual reality (VR) project developed by third-semester students Yasmine Mansour, Celina Forss, and Margarita Lubkova from Berlin International's Interaction Design Lab.
Utilizing the Oculus Quest 2, the project aims to simulate the cultural shock experienced by immigrants new to Germany. Named "Relieva," this VR simulation is based on qualitative interviews and real-life experiences. It immerses users in typical German behaviors and scenarios that often surprise newcomers. These include misunderstandings in everyday situations like at crosswalks or on escalators, vividly portraying the nuances of cultural shock.
The primary objective of Relieva is to educate international students about these cultural differences through a "learning by doing" approach. By engaging users in an immersive VR experience, it enhances their understanding of German customs and behaviors. This, in turn, equips them with the knowledge and confidence to navigate the social landscape of a new country more effectively.
The Graphic Design Project includes the development of the interactive prototype and the creation of a contemporary identity design including marketing campaign.
