Jakob Lehr is an interaction/visual designer and a design educator. He holds a Diploma in Visual Communications from the Berlin University of the Arts. Over the last two decades, he has designed award-winning media experiences for cultural institutions and commercial clients alike (with ART+COM, Fjord and others). His expertise as an empathic creator spans a broad spectrum from emerging technologies to visual design and time-based media.
Prof. Lehr held a teaching position as Professor of Design (ad interim) at Osnabrück University of Applied Sciences from 2013 to 2016. Based in Rotterdam, he was Teacher of Practice at the Industrial Design Engineering department for Delft University of Technology in the Netherlands (2016–2018). At BI he is teaching courses in the BA Graphic Design and Visual Communication and the BA Product Design programs.
Prof. Lehr’s current research interests are urban mobility and data visualization. In addition to his teaching work, he builds data-enabled interactive objects that address intriguing questions of our time.
