Graphic Design students dive into Berlin’s art scene
Within the course “Introduction to Multimedia” supervised by media artist and designer Magdalena Kallenberger, the first semester students got a chance to set a foot into Berlin´s fine arts and cultural scene.
Relating to the semester subject “From Home to Home”, Dr. Bonaventure Soh Bejeng Ndikung, founder and artistic director of the Savvy Contemporary – The Laboratory of Form-Ideas gave a guided tour. The group exhibition “Geographies of Imagination” is based on their long-term research on methods of “dis-othering”.
After a quick stop at Silent Green Kulturquartier including a feedback session at a cozy cafe nearby, a guided tour by Jan Tappe took the students through the fabulous multi-media exhibition “Ziggy on the Land of Drunken Trees” by Anne Duk Hee Jordan. Jordan experiments with and focuses mainly on phenomena of ecosystems: She uses a visual vocabulary that addresses many different social and ecological issues.
Galerie Wedding is located in the middle of an urban and multicultural district in a historic Expressionist building. Just as the building was part of a utopian concept of society, the gallery follows the claim of being a place for contemporary forms of artistic expression and forward-looking socio-political models.
