Exhibition screening within the Photography course
Right in the middle of November 2020, museums in Berlin are closed. However, the large galleries are still allowed to open. Kalinka Gieseler and her students took the opportunity for an excursion to Berlin Mitte. Sprüht Magers gallery warmly welcomed us despite the special circumstances.
The solo exhibition of the photographer Andreas Gursky gave a lively introduction into the course “Photography and Image Processing” for the students of the first semester of graphic design: Large-format and high resolution photographs look so much different at the wall than they do on the screen.
The exhibition included Gursky's current work as well as works from the past few years and provided an overview of the work of one of the most famous contemporary photographers. The excursion gave the students an important insight into the diverse possibilities of photography and its forms of presentation.
